Earn your master's on an accelerated path.
Current undergraduate students at UC Riverside's Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) may be able to earn a master's degree in as little as one additional academic year. The B.S. + M.S. Program lets eligible students apply approved coursework toward both degrees.
A direct path from bachelor's to master's
Build on the work you've already completed at BCOE. The accelerated pathway can shorten the time needed for graduate study while helping you develop advanced technical knowledge.
Finish sooner
Some students can complete their M.S. requirements in three quarters after earning their bachelor's degree. Individual timelines depend on the program and course plan.
Make approved courses count toward both degrees
Eligible undergraduate coursework may also satisfy part of your master's degree requirements, subject to program approval.
No GRE requirement
The B.S. + M.S. pathway does not require Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores.

Check your eligibility
The program is intended for current UCR undergraduates enrolled in BCOE. Applicants are expected to meet these academic requirements:
- Cumulative GPA above 3.4 across all coursework.
- GPA above 3.2 in math, science, and engineering coursework.
- Combined core-course GPA above 3.2, with at least a B- in each required core course.
- Required prerequisites for the intended M.S. degree program.
Core-course lists vary by major. Meeting the general GPA thresholds does not replace program-specific academic requirements or the graduate application process.
Available B.S. + M.S. pathways
BCOE offers accelerated degree pathways across these engineering and computing fields. The requirements and master's degree options depend on your undergraduate major.
- Bioengineering
- Chemical and Environmental Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Computer Science and Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
How to get started
Start with an interest form. If you're eligible, you'll then work with graduate program staff to complete the formal application steps.
Submit the interest form
Share your current major, expected graduation term, and academic information for review.
Receive an eligibility review
BCOE reviews interest forms at designated times during the academic year and sends eligibility guidance and next steps.
Work with graduate advisors
Eligible students meet with graduate staff and faculty advisors and complete the required master's application.
Important: The interest form is the first step. It is not the formal graduate degree application.
