We Engineer Excellence

Giving to BCOE

Make room for what comes next.

Your support helps UC Riverside's Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering create more opportunities for students to explore, build, research, and succeed.

Behind every opportunity is someone who helped make it possible.

A scholarship can give a student time to focus on coursework. A well-equipped laboratory can make a difficult concept tangible. Support for a student team can move an idea off the page and into a working prototype.

Gifts of every size contribute to the people, spaces, and experiences that define engineering education at BCOE.

A legacy built around student ideas.

Sam Konyn '79 established the Cathleen and Sam Konyn Endowed Student Project Fund to honor his late wife, Cathy. The fund supports student organizations, cross-disciplinary projects, and the Bear Tank competition.

In 2026, Sam committed an additional $1 million planned estate gift to strengthen the endowment for future student teams.

“Student success is a major passion of mine. An endowment allows me to directly fund activities that make success possible.”

Different gifts. Meaningful possibilities.

There is no single way to give back. These donors have supported engineering research, student scholarships, and the teaching spaces where ideas are put to work.
